Festus' father totally abandoned the family and moved to another city. Festus' mother has no job or regular source of income. She lost everything when her husband left. They were evicted from their home and had to move to the slums of Eldoret and rent a one-room house there. Basic needs are an impossibility for them. Even daily meals are a challenge to afford.
